BREMSENBREMSE® horseguard provides reliable and long-lasting protection against tropical and domestic insects such as horseflies and mosquitoes (including the Culex mosquitoes common in Germany, which can transmit the West Nile virus), as well as ticks. The active ingredient icaridin is recommended by the WHO for mosquito repellent, even in tropical areas, and is effective for up to 8 hours in humans at the concentration and dosage used here.
BREMSENBREMSE® horseguard, with the active ingredient complex of icaridin and EC oil h/c from the leaves of Eucalyptus citriodora, repels Culex pipiens for up to 4 hours per application, according to horse studies in accordance with the TNsG guidelines for mosquitoes and ticks (PT19 Technical Notes of Guidance for Efficacy). According to the horse study, it is sufficiently effective against "African ticks" (Hyalomma marginatum) that have migrated to Germany.
The BREMSENBREMSE® horseguard formula is tough on biting insects, yet gentle on materials and dermatologically tested. It has a pleasant lemongrass scent and is non-staining. It is also suitable for horses with eczema. It is doping-free for competition.

Important information on risks and vaccination protection
For BREMSENBREMSE® horseguard to significantly reduce the risk of being bitten and infected, it requires adequate dosage, distribution, and repetition. Since mosquitoes can be active at dusk and at night and also frequent stables, there is a risk of bites and infection at night as well. Therefore, it is highly recommended, after consulting your veterinarian, to follow the current recommendations of the Standing Committee on Veterinary Vaccination (StIKo Vet) to adequately protect your horse's health.

Application
Shake before use. Apply evenly to the coat and skin areas to be protected. Apply manually with a sponge in the eye and nostril area. Application quantity (3 sprays per DIN A3 sheet): 20-50 ml for ponies, 60-120 ml for horses. For improved tick protection, also spray a 5 cm wide ring strip at the level of the knee joints. Likewise, apply a ring-shaped barrier strip between the mouth and eyes. In the event of heavy sweating, treat unprotected coat/skin areas again after approx. 2 hours to ensure the level of protection. If the horse is particularly prone to bites, keep it in the shade and use head protection and fly rugs, and spray uncovered coat areas thoroughly. For riders, for example, 2-3 sprays per forearm.
