Everything "easy-2-control" with the Stübben LK controller

Its flexible noseband is designed to create a signaling effect across the bridge of the horse's nose. The lead rope or lunge line is attached to one of the two side rings.

The LK Controller can be quickly and easily attached to your halter, creating a combination halter: a training halter and stable halter in one! The LK Controller is designed to match the Stübben stable halter with reflective stitching.

Precise action, because

  • the length of the noseband from the LK controller is adjusted to the length of the halter noseband
  • The signaling effect (pressure on the bridge of the nose when needed) can be generated quickly. And even more importantly: when you give in, the pressure is released immediately!
  • Slipping of the halter during training is minimized because the LK controller is separately adjustable.

Please note:

  1. Adjust the halter and the LK controller correctly to the horse's head
The noseband of the halter should sit about two finger widths below the cheekbone. The chin and throat straps should be as close to the horse's head as possible, but with enough space between them to allow the horse to chew easily. The cheek pieces of the LK controller are threaded from the inside out through the lower rings of the halter and hooked into the upper halter rings. The LK controller is also adjusted with the chin strap so that it sits as close to the horse's head as possible, but with enough space between them to allow the horse to chew easily. The noseband of the LK controller now sits just below the noseband of the halter. Please check that it does not sit too low on the bridge of the nose – otherwise, buckle the halter and LK controller a little higher.
  2. carefully accustom the horse to the effect of the LK controller
Every aid is only as good as its handling. Please work with the horse in a calm and safe learning atmosphere so that it gives in to measured pressure on the bridge of the nose. Let go immediately when the horse gives in. When working with the LK controller, you should use a lead or ground work rope or a lunge line with a snap hook that is hooked into one of the two side rings of the controller's noseband. A tie-up rope with a panic hook (which could come undone if the horse is suddenly startled) is not suitable for leading or ground work. For example, it is recommended to start with walking and halting as exercises. Backing up is another good exercise to familiarize the horse with the signaling effect of the controller. The effect of the LK controller should never be used as the sole aid when leading or during ground work, but in conjunction with body language and voice.
  3. When training with the LK controller, only exert as much influence as necessary
The LK Controller is a training aid and should be used in such a way that the horse learns to respond sensitively to it. This makes it easier to control the horse during leading, groundwork, and loading. And in extreme situations, such as a flight reaction when startled, it provides additional safety. Similar to a seatbelt in a car, it should be worn as a matter of course and only activated when necessary.
  4. Remove the LK controller before tying up the horse
and never leave the horse unattended while tied up with the LK controller attached to the halter. Never tie your horse to the side lead rings of the controller (risk of injury!), but only to the rigid ring at the bottom of the chin strap of the halter.
