Trust Pony Bit Sweet Iron Baucher Bridle Double Broken

The Baucher snaffle, also called the Fillis snaffle, was developed by the French riding master François Baucher. This bit sits very quietly and securely in the horse's mouth thanks to its solid side pieces. It allows for precise and horse-friendly control, as it lacks leverage. The Baucher snaffle has a so-called upper bar with smaller rings through which the cheek pieces are buckled. The reins are buckled into the larger side rings. This bit is suitable for horses that are becoming strong and want to escape upwards, as well as for horses with short mouth gaps. The effect is transmitted via the tongue when the reins are taken up, then via the lower jaw to the poll. In dressage, Baucher bits are often used on horses to prepare them for the curb bit. The Baucher snaffle should not be used for horses that want to escape downwards and curl up or become "tight." Baucher bits should be chosen half to one size smaller.

The double-jointed bit consists of three pieces that rest in the horse's mouth, each with a bit thickness of 12 mm. The middle piece of the bit rests on the tongue and therefore exerts more pressure on it than a single-jointed bit. It is especially important to choose the correct size with a double-jointed bit. If the bit is too large, there is a risk that the joints will touch the corners of the mouth, thus injuring the horse.

The Pony Baucher Bridle from Trust Equestrian is specifically designed for ponies in terms of bit size, bit diameter, and the dimensions of the upper bar and bit rings. This ensures the bit sits correctly, prevents jamming, and matches the proportions of modern riding ponies.

The Trust Sweet Iron bit develops surface rust through contact with (atmospheric) moisture, which has a sweet taste and naturally stimulates saliva production. This causes the horse to foam more, which in turn leads to better acceptance of the bit. Due to the rusting process (oxidation), the blue color of the Trust bits turns brownish-gray over time.
If a Sweet Iron bit isn't used for a while, an orange-brown layer of rust can form on the mouthpiece. This layer can easily be wiped off with a damp cloth. Of course, surface rust isn't harmful to the horse.

Every Trust bit is entirely handmade in the Netherlands. All components are welded and polished by hand. The Sweet Iron acquires its beautiful deep blue color by briefly heating it. The finishing touch is the hand-hammering of the size stamp and brand name.

Delivery includes a towel for easy storage of the Trust dentures.
